This is my first blog. "So What" you say? Well, it's a little scary to put your words out there for everyone (probably no one) to read. It's easy to read other blogs and then post the obligatory heinous comment. But I digress. While listening to a certain radio titan the other day concerning the health care debate, it (unreferenced antecedent or whatever) hit me that the plan put forth by Obama and the Democrats is literally Logan's Run a film made in the 1970s (this damn fine film is supposedly to be remade because Hollywood won't read my wonderful scripts.) For the non-knowers of Logan's Run, the film centers around a picture perfect post-apocalyptic society where everyone is beautiful, sex is routine, and everything is perfect EXCEPT you only get to live to 30. Yes, thirty years old! Then you must attempt to "renew" where you float up to this human bug zapper and try to survive. But, no one "renews". It's just an empty promise that everyone tacitly believes. Most of the society goes along with the gov't plan (sound familiar?) but some choose to "run" for their lives to live past 30 years. These "runners" don't live too long because the perfect society's professional killers called Sandmen hunt you down and......enforce the law.....lethally. Trust me, it's a good movie. But this movie points out where Obama and some Democrats are taking us. Some of Obama's people know there isn't enough money, doctors and good intentions lying around to take care of older folks. They have said it publicly. So thirty years ago, the brilliant writers (Mr. Nolan and Mr. Johnson ) must have anticipated gov't run healthcare and realized who gets chopped first -- old people. But the REAL QUESTION is --- why stop at old people? How about "kind of old people?" How about middle-aged people? How about thirtysomethings? You see how the writers realized it (playing God) wouldn't stop with just old folks. And I am intentionally leaving out sick people and autistic people and people with ALS, MS, and the dreaded lazy-eyed folks. So before putting our government in charge of our lives, just look to 1970s Hollywood "to be ahead of the curve." And get ready to "run", you runners! Thanks for reading!
